Royals Begin Play Thursday in Sweet 16 Tournament

Mason County, winners of the 10th Region Tournament, will play Elliott County on Thurday Night 8 pm at Rupp Arena in the first round of the National city / KHSAA Sweet 16 Tournament.
The Royals enter Rupp with an excellent 30 - 4 season record in a spectacular year which saw victories over Mt. Vernon New York ranked #15 in the nation, Lexington Catholic ranked # 1 in Kentucky at the time, and highly rated Bryan Station in the year's first game.

Mason County has been dominant in the tournament so far with runaway victories powered by efficient offense and smothering defense.

UK bound Darius Miller has been brilliant in the district and regional tournaments, driving to the basket with unstoppable force and hitting shots from all over the court.

Darius averages 20 points and 8 Rebounds per game for the year and has been scoring at will in the post season so far. On the UK court he will attract alot of attention for good reason.

Also coming on strong in the Tournament for the Royals, Senior Sharpshooter Trevor Setty, has a knack for the big shot. Setty has scored 37 points in the last 2 games and hit 5 three pointers in the second half of the regional championship game.

In that pivotal game the Royals got 18 points from Miller in the first half and 20 points from Setty in the second half. The One Two. Lights Out Indians. Hello Rupp Arena.

Also watch for Junior Standout Russ Middleton to make noise at Rupp and Senior Ethan King entertains with his running one handers and is an excellent defender, as is Keith Downing who rounds out the Royal's starting five.
