Royals Win District Championship

Mason County Outscores Augusta 104 - 49

Senior Superstar Darius Miller Scored 22 points on a dazzling variety of shots in less than nine minutes total playing time to set the tone and lead the Mason County Royals to victory against the Augusta Panthers in the 39th District Championship Game on Thursday Night at Bracken County High School.

The Panthers were in the game briefly in the first quarter but the Royals broke out in the second quarter with 14 unanswered points and went on to win by 55 points in a blowout which saw the reserves score 34 points in the fourth quarter.



In addition to Miller's game high 22 points, Russ Middleton and Westin Stahl scored 12 points each to pace the Royals.

Mason County Wins Tournament Opener

Royals Roll to 94-53 Victory over St. Patrick





Seniors Darius Miller, Trevor Setty, and Ethan King poured in a combined 51 points in limited playing time to lead the Royals past St. Patrick in the opening game of the District Tournament Tuesday Night at Bracken County High School.

Miller led all scorers with 22 points. Trevor Setty had 19 points and Ethan King added 10.

Mason County dominated the game scoring 40 points off turnovers while shooting 57.6 % from the field.

Darius Miller reached the 2,000 point mark for his career.

Mason County Falls to Bryan Station



The Royal's regular season began 3 months ago with a comeback victory over Bryan Station in the Mr. Basketball Classic and ended friday night against the Defenders in a well-attended game at The Fieldhouse featuring two of the state's best teams.

Bryan Station was in command for most of the game, held off a second half comeback attempt, and avenged the season opening loss to the Royals by defeating Mason County 65-54.

Darius Miller led the Royals in scoring with a game-high 28 points. Russ Middleton had 9 points and Ethan King added 8.






The Royals finish with an excellent season record of 25 - 4 and will face St. Patrick in the District Tournament Opener on Tuesday at Bracken County High School in Brooksville at 8 pm.

Mason County Takes Down Clark County

Royals Win 67 - 50


The Mason County Royals, led by Seniors Darius Miller, Trevor Setty, and Ethan King who between them scored 57 of the Royals 67 points, defeated the Clark County Cardinals on Friday night at The Fieldhouse in Maysville.

Miller was dominant inside and out leading all scorers with 26 points. Setty had 16 points including 4 three pointers. King finished with 15 points.

The Royals started slow and were down early in the 2nd quarter but the seniors then went on a game deciding 15 -1 scoring spree to end the half and turn the game around.

Trevor Setty set the tone on the run with an emphatic dunk that was followed by a Darius Miller steal seconds later on the other end. Miller then made an excellent long pass to Ethan King who layed it in.

Mason County never looked back, opening the lead to 17 points by the end of the 3rd quarter.

The Royals push their record to 23-3.

Royals Win on the Road at Montgomery County

Run their Season Record to 22 and 3





Mason County held off an aggressive 19-4 Montgomery County squad to post their 22nd victory of the season Tuesday night in Mt. Sterling.

6'7" Senior Trevor Setty, who led the Royals in scoring with 21 points, hit 4 of 8 three pointers including a highbouncing 3 from the baseline that gave Mason County a 5 point lead with 1:37 remaining.

#33 Russ Middleton and #21 Darius Miller then added a field goal and free throws to hold the hustling Indians at bay.

Ethan King, on a full court pass from Miller, hit a layup to finish the scoring and defeat Montgomery County 71 - 65.

Middleton finished with 19 points. Miller had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Mason County Defeats Madison Central
Royals Rally in 4th to win 56 - 49

In a loud gym in Richmond, in a big game atmosphere the lead changed 15 times as the Madison Central Indians played hard to lead by six early in the fourth quarter.

The Royals refused to lose, rallying to outscore the Indians 20 to 10 in the final stanza to win by 7 and complete a 13 point 4th Quarter turnaround.

Darius Miller led Mason County with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Russ Middleton had 16 points, including 9 in the fourth quarter. Trevor Setty finished with 13 points.

Royals Roll Over Rowan County




Mason County improved to 20 - 3 on the season friday night defeating Rowan County 94 - 48.

The Royals were hot from the floor shooting 80 % from the field in the 1st Qtr and 62% for the game while smothering the Vikings with their signature pressing defense.

Seniors Darius Miller, Trevor Setty, and Ethan King were dominant offensively hitting a combined 22 of 27 shots from the field and were a perfect 7 of 7 from the line.

Miller had too many madhops for the Vikings as he soared for 25 points to lead the Royals including a highflying slam off an alleyoop pass from Russ Middleton.

Trevor Setty continued his smooth shooting finishing with 18 points while hitting 4 of 7 from 3 point range.

Ethan King had a Career High 15 points on 7 of 7 shooting.

Keith Downing led Mason County's tenacious defensive effort with 6 steals.
